Click an era in the timeline below to see what was happening in the world of Cheerwine at that time.

L.D. Peeler died in 1931 and Clifford Peeler took over as manager of Carolina Beverage Corporation and Cheerwine Bottling Co.
Clifford not only kept the company afloat during the depression, but managed to keep it profitable. It was good to have a product
with the word "Cheer" in the name back then!
Shirley Peeler, mother of Mark and Cliff Ritchie, was born in 1931. She gets a dozen Cheerwine bottles from her sons every Mother's Day!
Drivers' truck doors were personalized. It was due to this innovation that Cheerwine route driver Kazamiriarnold C. Kreteziwitczkowitzenberg
was reassigned to work within the Cheerwine plant.
The 30s slogans were "Cool Cats," "Hits the Thirsty Spot" and "It's Good… and Good for You."

In the 1940s came additional franchising as the war ended taking CW as far as Longview, TX.
In the 40s, "In Tune With Your Taste" was the slogan. Two brothers in Longview, Texas opened their own Cheerwine Bottling Co. It was a short
venture that ended in the late 40s over a family dispute. No one knows for sure if the names of those families weren't "Hatfield" and McCoy."
Clifford Peeler donated "scrap metal" to the war effort. Part of this donation was the first Dixie Filler machine owned by the company as well
as old signs and much of the memorabilia of the company. Some soldiers claimed to have been able to vaguely make out a Cheerwine logo in metal
on the hull of the USS Intrepid.
The CEM filler and MEYER bottle washer were purchased. Legend has it that the dealer that sold the equipment to Cheerwine also threw in a
clock radio and a Betty Grable calendar.
Shirley and sister Nancy Peeler worked as Bottle Inspectors. For many years after, their friends and neighbors were always amazed at the
cleanliness of the dishes and glasses in their homes!
